Italy has been widely heralded as the producer of some of the world's finest wines and cuisine; however, it had been largely overlooked as a source of premium cigar tobacco until the launch of CAO Italia. Grown exclusively for CAO, the Italian Habano seed used for this exciting cigar was originally brought to Italy from Cuba almost 50 years ago. Cultivated in the Benevento region of the southern portion of the boot, between Rome and Naples, the Italian Habano tobacco lends an incredible earthy sweetness to the cigar's robust, full-bodied flavor.
The Italian-grown Habano leaves are blended with fine Peruvian and Nicaraguan tobaccos to create a medium-bodied cigar notable for its sweet smoothness. The Peruvian tobacco imparts this unique sweetness that is very tasty without being cloying or merely gimmicky. All this rich goodness is presented in a premium Honduran-grown Connecticut wrapper and binder.
The CAO Italia is well-constructed with few if any soft spots. The taste itself is of coffee and cocoa, sometimes with a hint of caramel toward the end of the smoke.
